Doctrine and Practice
The Second London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 is a systematic summary of doctrine derived from scripture. The standard of doctrine which you can expect at TRBC Dryden.
“This ancient document is the most excellent epitome of the things most surely believed among us. It is not issued as an authoritative rule or code of faith, whereby you may be fettered, but as a means of edification in righteousness. It is an excellent, though not inspired, expression of the teaching of those Holy Scriptures by which all confessions are to be measured. We hold to the humbling truths of God’s sovereign grace in the salvation of lost sinners. Salvation is through Christ alone and by faith alone.” (C.H. Spurgeon, 1855)
What is a Reformed Baptist Church?
“A church of Christ is a congregation of godly Christians, who as a stated assembly (being first baptized upon the profession of faith) do by mutual agreement and consent give themselves up to the Lord, and one to another, according to the will of God; and do ordinarily meet together in one place, for the public service and worship of God; among whom the word of God and sacraments are duly administered, according to Christ’s institution” (Benjamin Keach, 1697)
Reformed Baptist Churches follow historic baptist principles and polity, and accordingly are structured as independent local congregations that maintain association with other likeminded churches. Reformed Baptist churches are committed to historic, orthodox, protestant Christianity and place high emphasis on the historical creeds, including the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed, and the creed from Chalcedon.
